백성현 논산시장이 지역 자원을 활용한 도시 브랜드 가치 제고와 지속 가능한 성장을 위한 공직자의 사명감을 강조했다.
백 시장은 3일 논산아트센터 대공연장에서 열린 3월 월례모임에서 "논산이 가진 고유한 자원을 적극적으로 발굴하고 활용해 도시의 품격을 높이는 데 행정력을 집중해야 한다"고 밝혔다.
이날 행사는 시정 발전에 기여한 시민과 공무원들에 대한 격려의 자리로 꾸며졌다. 지방세정 업무평가 우수 읍면동 6개 부서를 포함해 총 37명의 개인과 단체가 표창을 받았다.
특히 지역 보건 의료 최일선에서 힘쓴 공중보건의사 11명에게도 유공 표창이 수여되어 그간의 노고를 인정받았다.
참석자들은 지난달 인도네시아 자카르타에서 성황리에 개최된 '논산 농식품 해외박람회' 성과 영상을 시청하며 지역 농산물의 세계화 가능성을 확인했다.
백 시장은 이를 언급하며 논산의 농식품이 해외 시장에서 거둔 결실을 시민들과 공유하고 자긍심을 고취했다.
이어 백 시장은 논산의 미래 정체성을 '국방문화도시'와 '대한민국의 헌츠빌'로 규정했다.
그는 "그동안 논산이 가진 잠재력을 바탕으로 도시의 색깔을 명확히 하는 데 주력해 왔다"며 "공직자들은 국민을 위해 존재한다는 사명감을 잊지 말고, 시민이 체감할 수 있는 책임 행정을 펼쳐달라"고 주문했다.
