파주시는 3월 3일부터 지역 내 영유아 가정을 대상으로 생애 초기 독서문화 지원 사업인 북스타트 책꾸러미 배부를 시작한다.

북스타트는 파주시와 북스타트코리아가 공동으로 추진하는 사업으로, 영유아가 태어날 때부터 책과 친숙해질 수 있는 환경을 조성해 평등한 문화적 출발 기회를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
책꾸러미 배부는 파주시 공공도서관 18개소와 공립 작은도서관 3개소 등 총 21개 도서관에서 진행되며 꾸러미 구성은 연령에 따라 세 단계로 나뉜다.
0~18개월 영아를 위한 북스타트 베이비, 19~35개월 유아를 위한 북스타트 플러스, 36개월부터 취학 전 아동을 위한 북스타트 보물상자로 구분해 맞춤형 도서를 제공하며 각 꾸러미에는 단계별 추천 그림책 2권과 북스타트 가방, 부모 가이드북, 홍보물 등이 포함되어 있다.
지원 대상은 파주시에 주민등록을 둔 0세부터 취학 전까지의 영유아와 그 부모다.
수령을 위해서는 가족 중 1인이 도서관 회원이어야 하며, 신분증과 주민등록등본 등 거주지 및 가족관계를 확인할 수 있는 서류를 지참해 가까운 도서관을 방문하면 된다. 꾸러미는 선착순으로 증정된다.
이와 함께 파주시는 책꾸러미 배부에 그치지 않고 다양한 연계 프로그램도 마련했다.
중앙, 교하, 문산, 가람 도서관 등 주요 도서관에서는 3월부터 10월까지 영유아를 위한 책 놀이 프로그램과 양육자를 위한 교육 프로그램을 운영해 부모와 아이 사이의 긍정적인 상호작용을 도울 예정이다.
