중구는 이번 공모 선정으로 청라언덕 3·1만세운동길 약 150m 구간에 스토리형 야간 경관과 체험형 보행 공간을 결합한 ‘빛으로 걷는 독립의 길’을 조성할 계획이다.
사업에는 총 1억 5천만 원이 투입된다. 시비와 구비 각각 7천500만 원씩을 들여 2026년 상반기까지 세부 실행계획을 수립한 뒤, 하반기엔 조성을 마무리할 예정이다.
구는 근대 역사 현장인 청라언덕의 상징성과 의미를 살리기 위해 과도한 조명 연출은 삼가고, 절제된 빛 디자인을 통해 공간의 품격과 역사성을 유지한다는 방침이다. 보행 동선 곳곳에는 독립운동의 의미가 자연스럽게 전달될 수 있도록 다양한 스토리 요소도 도입할 예정이다.
조성된 야간경관 콘텐츠는 기존 ‘근대골목 밤마실 투어’와 연계해 운영된다. 중구는 이번 사업을 통해 체류형 관광을 확대하고, 동성로 관광특구와의 연계 효과로 지역 상권 활성화까지 기대하고 있다.
류규하 중구청장은 “역사문화자원을 훼손하지 않으면서도 시민과 관광객이 밤에도 안전하고 의미 있게 걸을 수 있는 공간을 만드는 것이 목표”라며 “청라언덕이 대구를 대표하는 야간 역사 관광 명소로 자리 잡도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Daegu's Jung-gu District has been selected for the "2026 Nighttime Tourism Revitalization Project," hosted by the Daegu Metropolitan Government.
With this selection, Jung-gu plans to create a "Light Walkway for Independence," combining a narrative nighttime landscape with an experiential pedestrian space, along a 150-meter stretch of the March 1st Movement Trail on Cheongna Hill.
A total of 150 million won will be invested in the project. The city and district governments will each invest 75 million won. A detailed implementation plan will be established by the first half of 2026, with construction expected to be completed in the second half.
To highlight the symbolism and significance of Cheongna Hill, a site of modern history, the district will refrain from excessive lighting and maintain the dignity and historicity of the space through a restrained lighting design. Various story elements will also be introduced throughout the pedestrian path to naturally convey the meaning of the independence movement.
The newly created nighttime landscape will be operated in conjunction with the existing "Modern Alley Night Bar Tour." Jung-gu District expects this project to expand residential tourism and, through its connection to the Dongseong-ro Special Tourist Zone, revitalize the local economy.
Jung-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyu-ha stated, "Our goal is to create a space where citizens and tourists can safely and meaningfully stroll at night without damaging historical and cultural resources. We will ensure that Cheongna Hill becomes Daegu's leading nighttime historical tourist attraction."
