고양특례시의 대표적 교육·문화 공간인 대화도서관이 약 1년여간의 새 단장을 마치고 시민들의 곁으로 돌아왔다.
고양시는 지난 4일 대화도서관 지하 1층 북카페에서 이동환 고양특례시장을 비롯해 시의회 의장, 지역구 의원, 유관기관 관계자 및 시민 등 80여 명이 참석한 가운데 재개관식을 성황리에 개최했다고 밝혔다.

2008년 개관 이후 시설 노후화로 인해 개선 필요성이 꾸준히 제기되어 온 대화도서관은 국토교통부 주관 ‘2023년 공공건축물 그린리모델링 공모사업’에 선정되며 혁신적인 변화를 맞이했다.
지난 2025년 6월 착공해 총 34억 원(국·도비 27억 원 포함)이 투입된 이번 사업은 에너지 효율 극대화와 쾌적한 이용 환경 조성에 초점을 맞췄다.
주요 개선 사항으로는 고성능 창호 교체와 내외벽 단열 보강을 통해 외부 열 손실을 최소화했으며, 외벽 마감재 개선으로 건축물의 미관과 안전성을 동시에 확보했다.

또한 고효율 냉난방 설비를 도입해 사계절 내내 쾌적한 실내 온도를 유지하면서도 에너지는 절감할 수 있는 ‘친환경 에너지 빌딩’으로 거듭났다.
