[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 정부의 2차 공공기관 이전에 대응을 위해 지난1일 자로 ‘공공기관 이전 전담 태스크포스(TF)팀’을 신설하고 본격적인 유치 활동에 나섰다고 5일 밝혔다.
이번 전담 TF팀은 국토교통부와 경상남도 등 관계 기관과 협력 체계를 구축하고 전략적인 공공기관 유치 활동을 추진하기 위해 마련됐다.
진주시는 경남진주 혁신도시를 중심으로 1차 공공기관 이전을 성공적으로 정착시킨 경험을 바탕으로 안정적인 정주 여건과 행정 지원 역량을 강점으로 내세우고 있다.
현재 혁신도시는 주거·교육·의료 등 생활 기반 시설이 잘 갖춰져 있어 공공기관 이전에 적합한 환경을 갖추고 있으며 지역 발전 기반도 안정적으로 구축돼 있다.
특히 항공우주, 세라믹, 바이오 등 지역 전략산업과 이전 대상 기관 간의 연계 가능성이 높아 추가 공공기관 유치 시 산업 발전과 지역 경제 활성화에 큰 상승효과가 기대된다.
진주시 관계자는 “2차 공공기관 이전은 진주의 미래를 좌우할 중요한 전환점이다”며 “경남도와 협력해 모든 행정 역량을 결집하고 시민과 함께 반드시 유치하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 진주시는 지역 경제계와 시민단체 등이 참여하는 진주시 공공기관 유치위원회를 구성해 민관 협력 체계를 구축하고 범시민적 유치 분위기를 조성할 계획이다.
