경기북부보훈지청은 제107주년 3·1절을 맞아 3월 6일 지청 청사에서 독립운동가 故서홍산 지사의 유족에게 정부 포상을 전수하며 선열의 숭고한 희생을 기리는 시간을 가졌다.
이번 포상 전수는 조국의 독립을 위해 헌신한 독립유공자의 공적을 기리고, 그 후손에게 국가 차원의 존경과 감사를 전하기 위해 마련되었다.
이번에 대통령표창이 추서된 故서홍산 지사는 1919년 3월 31일, 당시 경기도 양주군(현 남양주시) 진접면 부평리에서 전개된 독립만세운동에 적극적으로 참여했다가 체포되는 등 항일 투쟁에 앞장선 인물이다.

이날 전수식에서는 당초 포상 대상자였던 손녀를 대신해 손자인 유족이 표창을 수령했다.
유족은 "어린 시절 집안 어른들께 조부님의 독립운동 이야기를 전해 들은 적은 있었지만, 이렇게 긴 시간이 흐른 뒤에야 공식적으로 공훈이 발굴되어 명예를 되찾게 되니 감격스럽고 기쁘다"며 소회를 전했다.
