【브레이크뉴스 의성】이성현 기자=경상북도시장군수협의회(회장 김주수 의성군수)는 6일 오전 11시 의성종합체육관에서 민선8기 제19차 정기회의를 열고 지난 4년간의 주요 성과를 점검하는 한편, 도내 22개 시·군의 공동 현안을 논의했다.

이번 회의는 민선8기 협의회의 공식 일정 가운데 마지막 정기회의로, 그동안 추진해 온 건의사항과 제도 개선 성과를 종합적으로 정리하고 향후 과제를 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 회의에서는 ▲민선8기 하반기 주요 성과 보고 ▲2026년도 세입·세출 예산(안) 보고 ▲건의사항 회신 결과 공유 ▲신규 건의안 심의·의결 등이 진행됐다.
특히 칠곡군이 제안한 ‘수질오염사고 오염수 수거·처리 대행 공동계약 체계 구축’ 안건이 신규 건의사항으로 상정됐다. 협의회는 최근 수질오염 및 화학사고 증가에 따른 초기 대응 역량을 강화하기 위해 권역별 공동 대응체계 구축의 필요성에 공감하고, 경상북도 차원의 지원 방안 마련을 함께 모색하기로 했다.
김주수 협의회장은 “민선8기 동안 경북 22개 시·군이 공동 현안을 함께 논의하며 지방자치 발전을 위해 노력해 왔다”며 “오늘 회의는 그동안의 성과를 정리하는 자리이자 다음 기수로 과제를 이어가는 출발점”이라고 말했다.
이어 “앞으로도 협의회가 지역의 목소리를 하나로 모아 실질적인 제도 개선과 지역 균형발전에 기여할 수 있도록 지속적으로 역할을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.

The Gyeongbuk Mayors and County Mayors Council (Chairman Kim Ju-soo, Mayor of Uiseong County) held its 19th regular meeting of its 8th term at 11:00 AM on the 6th at the Uiseong Gymnasium. The meeting reviewed key achievements over the past four years and discussed joint issues across the province's 22 cities and counties.
This meeting, the final regular meeting of the council's official schedule, was designed to comprehensively summarize the recommendations and institutional improvements made so far and share future tasks.
The meeting included: ▲ reporting on key achievements in the second half of the 8th term; ▲ reporting on the 2026 revenue and expenditure budget; ▲ sharing the results of responses to recommendations; and ▲ reviewing and approving new proposals.
Notably, the "Establishment of a Joint Contract System for the Collection and Treatment of Contaminated Water from Water Pollution Accidents" proposed by Chilgok County was presented as a new proposal. The council agreed on the need to establish a regional joint response system to strengthen early response capabilities in response to the recent increase in water pollution and chemical accidents. They also agreed to explore support measures at the Gyeongsangbuk-do level.
Council Chairperson Kim Ju-su stated, "During the 8th elected local government, the 22 cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do have worked together to discuss common issues and advance local autonomy. Today's meeting serves as a time to review past achievements and a starting point for continuing the work in the next term."
He emphasized, "Going forward, the council will continue to fulfill its role by uniting local voices and contributing to substantive institutional improvements and balanced regional development."
