이에 따라 설치 후 3년이 지난 냉·난방기 5만여 대를 대상으로 정밀 세척이 진행되며, 권장 세척 주기도 기존 5년에서 3년으로 대폭 단축된다.
이번 사업은 기후 변화로 냉·난방기 가동 시간이 점점 늘어나고, 학교 환경 및 보건 기준이 강화되는 데 대응하기 위한 조치다.
대구시교육청은 ‘학교 냉·난방기 종합세척 집중 지원 사업’을 시행한다고 밝혔다. 세척 대상은 설치 후 3년이 넘은 냉·난방기 5만 1,721대로, 신청 학교의 설치 연수와 최근 세척 이력, 냉난방개선사업 여부 등을 종합적으로 고려해 지원 대상을 선정할 계획이다.
이번 종합세척은 단순한 필터 청소를 넘어, 냉·난방기의 내부까지 완전히 분해해 열교환기, 송풍팬, 드레인판 등에 쌓인 미세먼지와 곰팡이, 세균 등을 친환경 약품과 고압 세척 장비로 제거하는 방식이다. 교육청은 이 과정을 통해 실내 공기 질을 개선하고, 냉·난방기 에너지 효율 회복과 기기 수명 연장까지 기대하고 있다.
사업이 체계적으로 운영될 수 있도록 표준 종합세척 과업지시서도 마련된다. 이 과업지시서에는 작업 단계별 순서, 장비 설명, 안전수칙, 점검 양식 등이 포함되며, 학교 수업에 지장이 없도록 방학이나 주말을 활용해 세척 일정을 관리할 예정이다.
대구시교육청은 이번 사업을 통해 냉·난방기 종합세척 권장 주기를 기존 5년에서 3년으로 앞당기면서 학교 위생 관리 기준도 한층 강화한다는 방침이다.
강은희 교육감은 “교실은 학생들이 하루 가운데 가장 많은 시간을 보내는 공간인 만큼, 안심하고 숨 쉴 수 있는 환경을 만드는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “이번 세척 집중 지원으로 학교 위생 관리의 사각지대를 줄이고, 학생들이 더욱 건강한 환경에서 학습할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
