더불어민주당 조상호 세종시장 예비후보가 8일 오후 세종시 나성동 선거사무소 개소식을 열고 본격적인 총선 행보에 나섰다. 지난 1월 출판기념회에 2천여 명이 몰린 데 이어, 이날 행사에도 약 500명이 운집하며 세를 과시했다.
개소식에는 김태년 국회의원(조 후보 후원회장)의 축전을 비롯해 홍성국 전 국회의원, 최혁진 국회의원, 이강진 세종시갑 지역위원장 등이 참석해 조 후보를 잇따라 격려했다. 이해찬 전 국무총리의 동생 이해만 대표, 최병욱 전 한밭대 총장, 정명식 한국노총 세종본부 의장 등 지역 각계 인사들도 자리를 함께했다.

정치권 안팎에서는 조상호 예비후보가 이해찬 전 총리의 ‘발탁’과 이재명 대통령의 ‘신뢰’를 등에 업은 인물로 평가받고 있어, 민주당 세종시장 경선 구도에도 적잖은 영향을 미칠 것으로 전망된다.
