고양시재향군인회가 지역 주둔 군부대와의 협력을 강화하며 민·군 상생의 행보를 이어가고 있다.
고양시재향군인회는 지난 5일 육군 제9보병사단(백마부대)을 방문해 장병들의 노고를 격려하고 위문금 100만 원을 전달했다고 밝혔다.

이번 방문은 국가 안보 최일선에서 헌신하는 장병들의 사기를 높이고 지역사회와 군의 협력 관계를 더욱 공고히 하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 행사에는 고양시재향군인회 임원진과 함께 장성대 월드와이드메모리 대표(고양시재향군인회 청년단장)가 참석해 따뜻한 나눔을 실천했다.
장 대표는 다자녀를 둔 초급간부 가정의 자녀들을 위해 노트북 10대를 별도로 기증하며 의미를 더했다.

기증된 노트북은 온라인 학습과 디지털 교육 환경 접근이 어려운 군 가족 자녀들의 학업 지원에 활용될 예정이다.
군 복무 여건상 발생할 수 있는 교육 격차를 민간 차원에서 지원하는 실질적인 복지 사례로 평가받고 있다.
조광진 고양시재향군인회장은 “장병들의 헌신 덕분에 시민들이 평온한 일상을 누릴 수 있다”며 “재향군인회도 국가 방위의 한 축으로서 군과 지역사회가 함께 성장할 수 있는 협력 모델을 지속적으로 확대하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이에 최원석 육군 제9보병사단장은 “지역사회와 재향군인회의 따뜻한 관심은 장병들에게 무엇보다 큰 힘이 된다”며 “철저한 안보 태세 확립은 물론 지역사회와 상생하는 군의 역할에도 최선을 다하겠다”고 화답했다.
양측은 이날 간담회를 통해 오는 10월 개최 예정인 ‘고양시민과 함께하는 호국보훈문화제’의 성공적인 개최를 위해 적극 협력하기로 뜻을 모았다.

앞으로 두 기관은 장병 참여 프로그램 개발과 시민 체험형 보훈 콘텐츠 확대, 인적·물적 자원 공유 등 다양한 협력 사업을 추진하며 시민들이 일상 속에서 안보와 보훈의 가치를 체감할 수 있도록 협력해 나갈 방침이다.
