【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=김성년 전 수성구의원이 10일 선거관리위원회에 예비후보 등록을 마치고 4선 도전을 공식화했다.
본격적인 선거 준비에 나선 김 예비후보는 “수성구의회에는 단체장을 견제할 수 있는 야당의 역할이 꼭 필요하다”고 목소리를 높였다.
정의당 소속인 김 예비후보는 지난 2010년 진보신당 후보로 처음 의회에 입성한 데 이어, 2014년과 2018년에는 정의당 소속으로 연달아 당선돼 제6·7·8대 수성구의회를 경험했다. 2012년에는 의회 운영위원장을, 2016년에는 부의장을 역임하는 등 다양한 의정 활동도 펼쳤다.
김 예비후보는 “제9대 수성구의회는 의원 수가 늘었음에도 불구하고, 단체장을 견제하는 야당의 역할이 제대로 드러나지 않고 있다”며 “진보정당 구의원으로 다시 선택받아 강한 견제와 실질적인 대안을 마련하겠다”고 강조했다.
또한 김 예비후보는 “지난 3년 반 동안 정의당 대구시당 사무처장으로 활동하며 시민사회와 함께 현장을 중심으로 민생사업을 추진해왔다”며 “이 경험을 살려 지역 현안 해결에 앞장서겠다”고 말했다.
현재 김 예비후보는 정의당 수성구위원장과 대구시당 사무처장 직을 맡고 있다. 수성주민광장 대표, 노회찬재단 대구모임 대표 등으로도 활동하며 지역 시민단체와의 협력도 잇고 있다.

Former Suseong District Council member Kim Seong-nyeon officially announced his third term by registering as a preliminary candidate with the National Election Commission on the 10th.

Kim, a Justice Party member, first entered the council in 2010 as a candidate for the New Progressive Party and was subsequently elected as a Justice Party member in 2014 and 2018, serving in the 6th, 7th, and 8th Suseong District Councils. He has also served in various legislative roles, including as the Steering Committee Chairperson in 2012 and Vice Chairperson in 2016.
Kim emphasized, "Despite the increase in the number of council members in the 9th Suseong District Council, the opposition's role in keeping the mayor in check has not been fully demonstrated. I will be re-elected as a progressive party council member and will provide strong checks and balances and practical alternatives."
Furthermore, Kim stated, "As the Secretary General of the Justice Party's Daegu City Chapter for the past three and a half years, I have worked with civil society to promote livelihood projects focused on the ground. I will leverage this experience to take the lead in resolving local issues."
Currently, Kim serves as the Justice Party's Suseong District Committee Chairperson and the Secretary General of the Daegu City Chapter. He also serves as the head of the Suseong Citizens' Plaza and the Daegu branch of the Roh Hoe-chan Foundation, fostering collaboration with local civic groups.
