대구~신공항을 연계하고 영주까지 이어지는 광역철도 건설과 신공항~영덕 철도망 추진을 통해 의성을 경북 내륙의 교통 허브로 격상시키고, 공항 배후 도시로서의 기능을 강화한다는 구상이다.
