【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=음성군은 지난 12일 유기·유실 동물의 입양과 건강한 반려 문화 조성을 위해 군 직영 ‘동물보호센터’를 개소했다.
이날 개소식에는 조병옥 군수를 비롯해 김영호 군의회 의장 및 민병덕 대소면이장협의회장 등 지역 주민 50여 명이 함께했다.
군은 유기·유실 동물의 체계적인 관리와 동물복지 향상을 위한 공모사업으로 기존 센터를 위탁에서 직영으로 전환해, 구조부터 보호, 입양, 훈련, 미용, 의료까지 원스톱으로 지원하게 된다.
음성군 삼성면 대금로 715-5에 조성된 동물보호센터는 대지면적 1천381㎡, 건축면적 397㎡ 규모로 개 70마리, 고양이 10마리를 수용할 수 있는 보호시설과 진료실, 미용실, 입양홍보실, 사무실 등을 갖췄다.
사양관리 용역 6명 및 담당 공무원 1명 등 총 7명의 운영 인력이 유기·유실 동물을 일시적으로 보호하고 입양 등의 절차를 진행한다.
운영시간은 월~금요일 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지이며, 주말 및 공휴일은 구조 및 보호 업무만을 추진하게 된다.
군 관계자는 “동물보호센터가 반려동물 선진 문화도시 조성을 위한 초석이 돼 사람과 동물이 조화로운 지역의 따뜻한 공간으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
