의왕시 학교 밖 청소년들이 정규 교육과정 밖에서도 자신만의 길을 개척하며 의미 있는 성과를 거두고 있다. 의왕시청소년재단 산하 의왕시학교밖청소년지원센터(이하 의왕시꿈드림센터)는 16일 대입 전형 마무리에 맞춰 ‘2025년 청소년 학업 및 진로 우수 성과’를 발표했다.
발표된 자료에 따르면, 지난해 꿈드림 프로그램에 참여한 청소년 중 20명이 대학 입학의 꿈을 이뤘으며, 42명이 검정고시에 합격하는 기쁨을 누렸다. 또한 31명의 청소년이 각종 자격증을 취득하며 직업 역량을 강화하는 등 총 93건의 주요 성과를 달성했다.
이 같은 결실은 센터가 운영해 온 체계적인 맞춤형 지원 프로그램 덕분으로 풀이된다. 센터는 학교를 떠난 청소년들이 학습 공백을 느끼지 않도록 검정고시 대비반을 운영하고, 대학 입시를 준비하는 이들에게는 개별 상담과 학습 멘토링을 제공하며 든든한 가이드 역할을 해왔다.
학업뿐만 아니라 실질적인 자립을 돕는 프로그램도 주효했다. 청소년 개개인의 적성을 고려한 진로·직업 체험과 자격증 취득 과정을 통해 사회 구성원으로서 당당히 홀로 설 수 있는 기반을 마련해준 것이 이번 성과의 밑거름이 됐다.
이형애 의왕시꿈드림 팀장은 “학교라는 울타리를 벗어나서도 자신의 가능성을 믿고 쉼 없이 달려온 청소년들이 대견하다”며 “앞으로도 이들이 학업과 진로를 포기하지 않고 꿈을 이어갈 수 있도록 전폭적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 전했다.
한편, 의왕 포일어울림센터 2층에 자리한 의왕시꿈드림센터는 학교에 다니지 않는 9세부터 24세 청소년이라면 누구나 이용할 수 있다. 상담부터 교육, 취업 지원까지 다양한 맞춤형 서비스는 센터 홈페이지나 유선 전화를 통해 상세히 안내받을 수 있다.
