경북도는 3월 16일부터 6월 30일까지 ‘2026 경북 국제 AI·메타버스 영상 공모전’ 작품 접수를 진행한다고 밝혔다.
이번 공모전은 총상금 1억 원 규모로, 대상 수상자에게는 2,000만 원의 상금이 수여된다. 공모 분야는 ▲AI 창작영상 ▲AI 게임영상 ▲AI 광고영상 ▲AI 숏폼 등 4개 부문으로, 참가자는 공식 홈페이지를 통해 1인 또는 팀 단위로 최대 2개 분야까지 응모할 수 있다.
특히 올해 공모전은 ‘지역 상생’을 핵심으로 내세웠다. 경북도는 구미·포항·경산 지역의 축제와 전통시장, 지역 기업 등을 소재로 한 AI 광고영상을 중점 발굴하고, 수상작을 지역 홍보 콘텐츠로 활용하는 ‘콘텐츠 환류 체계’를 구축해 지역 경제 활성화로 이어지도록 할 계획이다.
또한 진입 장벽을 낮추기 위해 AI 숏폼 분야를 신설하고, 참가 대상을 일반부·대학생부·청소년부로 구분해 누구나 참여할 수 있는 창작 환경을 마련했다. 이를 통해 전문 제작자뿐 아니라 젊은 창작자들의 다양한 아이디어가 반영될 것으로 기대된다.
시상식은 오는 9월 3일부터 4일간 구미코, 포항문화예술회관, 경산실내체육관에서 열리는 ‘2026 경북 국제 AI·메타버스 영상제’ 기간 중 개최되며, 수상작은 행사 기간 동안 일반에 공개될 예정이다.
양금희 경상북도 경제부지사는 “이번 공모전을 통해 창의적인 인재들이 경북에서 역량을 펼치고 미래 콘텐츠 산업을 이끌어갈 주역으로 성장하길 기대한다”며 “영상제를 계기로 창작자와 기업이 함께하는 AI·메타버스 산업 생태계를 조성해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

North Gyeongsang Province to Host ‘International AI & Metaverse Video Contest’… Total Prize Money of 100 Million Won
North Gyeongsang Province is launching a global video content contest utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and metaverse technology to discover new creators.
The province announced that it will accept submissions for the ‘2026 North Gyeongsang International AI & Metaverse Video Contest’ from March 16 to June 30.
The contest features a total prize pool of 100 million won, with 20 million won awarded to the grand prize winner. The contest is divided into four categories: AI Creative Videos, AI Game Videos, AI Advertising Videos, and AI Short-form Videos. Participants can apply individually or as a team for up to two categories via the official website.
Notably, this year's contest emphasizes ‘regional co-prosperity’ as its core theme. Gyeongbuk Province plans to focus on discovering AI advertising videos featuring festivals, traditional markets, and local businesses in the Gumi, Pohang, and Gyeongsan regions. Furthermore, it intends to establish a "content feedback system" that utilizes winning entries as regional promotional content, aiming to revitalize the local economy.
In addition, to lower entry barriers, a new AI short-form video category has been created. Participants have been categorized into general, university student, and youth divisions to establish a creative environment accessible to everyone. This is expected to reflect diverse ideas from young creators as well as professional producers.
The awards ceremony will be held during the "2026 Gyeongbuk International AI & Metaverse Video Festival," which takes place from September 3 to 4 at GumiCo, the Pohang Culture & Arts Center, and the Gyeongsan Indoor Gymnasium. Winning entries will be made available to the public during the event. Yang Geum-hee, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, “Through this contest, I hope that creative talents will showcase their capabilities in Gyeongbuk and grow into key players who will lead the future content industry,” adding, “Using this video festival as an opportunity, we will foster an AI and metaverse industry ecosystem where creators and companies can work together.”
