[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남의 디지털 혁신 거점인 국립창원대학교가 미국 유타대학교와 함께 미래 산업의 핵심인 소프트웨어(SW) 및 인공지능(AI) 분야의 교육 영토 확장에 나섰다. 17일 국립창원대 인공지능특화센터 EON관 존 매카시 홀에서 열린 간담회는 양 기관의 '교육 동맹'을 확인하는 자리였다.
이번 행사는 급변하는 디지털 전환 시대에 대응하여 글로벌 수준의 SW·AI 교육 방향을 공유하고, 양 기관 간 실질적인 협력 체계를 구축하기 위한 목적으로 마련되었다. 특히 해외 우수 대학과의 교류를 통해 교육 경쟁력을 강화하고, 미래 산업 수요에 부합하는 인재 양성 방안을 모색하는 데 중점을 두었다.
이날 간담회에서는 인공지능공학과 류정열 교수의 특강을 통해 AI 분야의 최신 기술 동향과 산업 변화에 대한 심도 있는 소개가 이루어졌다. 생성형 AI를 비롯한 최근 기술 발전 흐름과 함께 이러한 변화가 교육 현장에 미치는 영향과 향후 교육 방향에 대한 논의가 이어졌다.
또한 SW중심대학사업단의 Networking-SW 최정인 센터장은 사업단 소개와 함께 글로벌 대학의 SW·AI 교육 운영 사례를 공유하며 유타대학교 교수진들과 SWAI 교육과정 구성, 산학협력 연계, 프로젝트 기반 학습 등 다양한 혁신 사례를 논의하였다. 이를 통해 국내 교육 환경에 적용 가능한 시사점을 도출하고, 교육의 질적 향상을 위한 구체적인 실행 방안을 검토하며 차년도 협력 프로그램 추진에 대한 기대를 높였다.
아울러 양 기관은 향후 공동 교육 프로그램 개발, 학생 및 교수 교류, 공동 연구 추진 등 다양한 협력 프로그램 운영 가능성에 대해 논의하였다. 특히 단기 특강, 공동 워크숍, 교환 프로그램 등 단계별 협력 확대 방안에 대해 공감대를 형성하며 지속 가능한 협력 관계 구축의 기반을 마련하였다.
국립창원대 SW중심대학사업단 유선진 단장은 “AI 기술의 급속한 발전에 따라 교육 역시 실무 중심으로 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 이번 협력을 통해 학생들에게 글로벌 수준의 교육 경험을 제공하고, 현장 수요에 부합하는 교육 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 계획”이라고 설명했다.
국립창원대 SW중심대학사업단 최정인 센터장은 “이번 간담회를 통해 글로벌 SW·AI 교육 트렌드를 공유하고, 양 기관 간 협력의 방향성을 구체화하는 계기가 되었다”며 “앞으로도 국제 협력을 지속적으로 확대하여 미래 산업을 선도할 수 있는 융합형 인재 양성에 힘쓰겠다”고 전했다.
