최근 금값이 급등하면서 귀금속 매장을 노린 범죄 가능성이 커지자, 충남경찰청 당진경찰서가 지역 치안 강화에 나섰다.
당진경찰은 18일 중앙지구대 경찰관 7명과 자율방범대원 10명이 참여한 가운데, 구터미널 인근 금은방 밀집지역에서 약 2시간에 걸친 합동 순찰을 실시했다고 밝혔다.
이번 순찰은 범죄 취약시간대를 중심으로 진행됐으며, 업주 대상 범죄예방 홍보와 지역 주민 의견 청취도 함께 이뤄졌다.
특히 경찰과 자율방범대는 순찰 노선을 사전 점검하면서 방범 사각지대를 집중적으로 살피고, 야간 경계 강화 방안도 논의한 것으로 전해졌다.
중앙지구대 관계자는 “금은방은 고가의 귀금속을 취급하는 만큼 절도나 강도 표적이 되기 쉽다”며 “지역 방범대와 긴밀히 협력해 시민이 안심할 수 있는 생활치안 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.
경찰은 이와 함께 지역 내 은행, 귀금속점, 편의점 등 현금 취급이 많은 업소를 대상으로 한 순찰 활동도 지속적으로 확대할 계획이다.
