[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 국민의힘 부산 지역 국회의원들이 19일 공동 기자회견을 열고 더불어민주당 전재수 의원의 통일교 금품 수수 의혹을 정면 비판하며 부산시장 출마 즉각 중단을 요구했다.
이들은 전 의원이 피의자 신분으로 소환 조사 직전이지만 출마를 고집하는 태도를 두고 "부산시민의 참담함과 허탈감은 이루 말할 수 없다"고 비판했다.
의원들은 통일교 2인자로 불리던 윤영호 전 본부장의 특검 진술을 직접 인용하며 "전 의원이 천정궁에서 한학자 총재를 접견하며 현금 4천만 원과 불가리 까르띠에 시계를 받았다"라며 "전 의원이 '이런 것을 받아도 되느냐'며 물품을 챙겼다는 구체적 진술은 단순한 공세가 아닌 검은 거래의 실체를 보여준다"라고 의혹의 구체성을 강조했다.
또, 배우자 참고인 조사에 이어 본인 소환까지 이어지는 상황에서도 전 의원이 출판기념회를 여는 등 출마 행보를 지속하는 점을 지적했다. "깊은 반성과 성찰은커녕 이재명 정부와 민주당의 침묵과 비호 속에 부산시장 출마를 뻔뻔하게 이어가고 있다"며 "결함 없는 후보인 양 태연하게 행사에서 책값을 훌쩍 넘는 고액 현금 봉투까지 주고받은 정황"이라고 의혹을 제기 했다.
수사기관 행보에 대해 "특검은 핵심 진술과 내부 문건을 확보하고도 방치했고 국수본은 전 의원 사무실 압수수색 현장에서 2시간가량 집행을 지연시켜 권력 눈치형 편파 수사 논란을 자초했다"라며 "늑장 수사가 면죄부 수사로 기정사실화되기 전에 정교유착의 추악한 실체를 명명백백히 밝혀야 한다"고 요구했다.
민주당에는 "범죄 의혹이 짙은 인물로 지방권력을 채우려는 욕심을 버리고 국민의힘이 발의한 통일교 특검법부터 수용하라"고 압박했다.
부산 의원들은 "지금이라도 부산의 대표자가 되겠다는 망상을 버리고 엄정한 특검의 심판대에 서는 것이 부산시민께 할 수 있는 최소한의 도리이자 정치인으로서의 마지막 책임"이라고 주장했다.

People Power Party lawmakers from Busan held a joint press conference on March 19, directly criticizing Democratic Party Rep. Jeon Jae-soo's alleged Unification Church cash receipt scandal and demanding he immediately halt his Busan mayoral candidacy. They condemned his persistence in the race despite facing a summons as a suspect, stating it leaves "Busan citizens with indescribable dismay and frustration."
The lawmakers cited testimony from former Unification Church executive Yoon Young-ho, a key figure in the group, quoting him as saying Rep. Jeon "met Han Hak-ja, the church's leader, at Cheonjeong Palace, where he received 40 million won in cash along with Bulgari and Cartier watches." They emphasized the testimony's detail, noting Jeon allegedly asked, "'Is it okay to take these?' before taking the items," calling it "not mere political attacks but clear evidence of a shady deal."
Even as Jeon's spouse underwent questioning as a witness and his own summons loomed, he continued campaign activities like holding a book launch event, they pointed out. "Far from deep reflection, he brazenly presses ahead with the mayoral bid amid silence and protection from the Lee Jae-myung administration and Democratic Party," the statement said, adding reports of "high-value cash envelopes, far exceeding book prices, exchanged at the event as if he were a flawless candidate."
On probe handling, they charged that "the special counsel sat on key testimonies and internal documents, while the National Investigation Headquarters delayed executing a search at Jeon's office by about two hours, fueling allegations of power-influenced, biased investigation."
The group pressed the Democratic Party, saying "abandon the greed to fill local power bases with figures mired in crime suspicions and accept the People Power Party's Unification Church special counsel bill."
Busan lawmakers concluded, "Jeon must now abandon his delusion of becoming Busan’s leader and stand before the rigorous special counsel judgment—that alone is the bare minimum owed to citizens and his final duty as a politician."
