【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=국민의힘 포항시장 경선에 나선 박대기 예비후보가 4자 간 공개 토론회 개최를 공식 제안했다.
박 예비후보는 20일 입장문을 통해 “포항시민들이 후보자들에 대해 충분히 알 수 있도록 경선 후보 4인 간 공개 토론회가 필요하다”며 문충운·박용선·안승대 예비후보에게 공동 참여를 요청했다.
그는 “시민들께 더 많이 찾아뵙고 비전과 정책을 설명할 기회를 만들겠다”며 “특히 정치 신인의 경우 시민들에게 자신을 알릴 기회가 더욱 절실하다”고 강조했다.
이어 “포항을 다시 뛰게 하고 더 발전시키기 위한 각 후보들의 생각을 시민들께 소상히 전달하는 것은 후보자들의 기본 자세”라며 “정정당당한 경쟁을 위해서도 공개 토론회는 반드시 필요하다”고 밝혔다.
박 예비후보는 또 “경선에 함께하는 선배 후보들에게 존중과 위로의 뜻을 전한다”며 “포항에 대한 애정과 비전을 바탕으로 공정한 경선에 임하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
아울러 그는 “국민의힘 공천관리위원회가 기초단체장 경선에서 토론회 도입을 원칙으로 하고 있는 만큼, 후보 4인이 뜻을 모은다면 공관위도 시기와 방식 등을 마련할 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
끝으로 “이번 토론회를 통해 국민의힘이 희망과 미래를 가진 정당이라는 점을 시민들께 보여줄 수 있기를 바란다”며 “협의 진행 상황은 추후 시민과 언론에 알리겠다”고 밝혔다.
