경기도의회 건설교통위원회 소속 서성란 의원(국민의힘, 의왕2)이 의왕 오전역 일대 환승주차장 확대 필요성을 강조하며 경기도의 적극적인 지원을 촉구했다.
서성란 의원은 지난 3월 12일 경기도의회 의왕상담소에서 경기도 철도항만물류국 철도운영과, 교통국 광역교통정책과, 의왕시 교통정책과 관계자들과 간담회를 열고 ‘오전동 공영주차장 및 문화공원 조성사업’과 연계한 환승주차장 확충 방안을 논의했다.
이날 간담회에서는 의왕시가 추진 중인 공영주차장 조성사업과 함께 환승주차장 확대 계획 및 재원 확보 방안이 주요 의제로 다뤄졌다.
해당 사업은 당초 지하 2층, 약 80면 규모로 계획됐으나 향후 철도 이용 수요 증가와 환승 기능 강화를 고려해 지하 3층, 110면 이상으로 확대하는 방안이 검토되고 있다.
특히 오전역은 향후 인덕원~동탄선 개통 시 의왕뿐 아니라 군포·안양 등 인근 지역을 아우르는 교통 거점으로 기능할 것으로 예상되면서, 환승주차장 확보가 광역철도 이용 편의와 직결된다는 의견이 제기됐다.
서성란 의원은 “인덕원~동탄선 개통 이후 오전역은 핵심 환승 거점이 될 것”이라며 “대중교통 활성화를 위해서는 차량을 두고 편리하게 환승할 수 있는 주차 인프라 확충이 필수적”이라고 강조했다.
이어 “그동안 행정사무감사와 예산 심사 과정에서 경기도 지원 필요성을 지속적으로 제기해 왔다”며 “의왕시가 선제적으로 사업을 추진하고 있는 만큼, 경기도도 광역교통 정책 차원에서 적극적인 지원 방안을 마련해야 한다”고 밝혔다.
