인천시에 따르면, 광역시도60호선 도로사업은 계양∼강화 고속도로 종점인 선원면 신정리에서 현재 공사 중인 국지도84호선 종점인 선원면 냉정리를 연결하는 총연장 3.67km, 왕복4차로 규모로 추진된다.
사업이 완료되면 고속도로와 연계한 강화군 내 주요 간선도로망이 서로 연결되어 접근성이 크게 개선되고 지역 주민과 관광객의 교통 편의도 한층 높아질 것으로 기대된다.
또한, 인천시는 계양∼강화 고속도로 개통 시기인 2032년에 맞춰 도로사업을 신속히 추진하기 위해 2024년 노선계획안을 검토하고, 2025년에는 국토교통부와 여러 차례 협의를 거쳐 광역시도 노선 승격(2025년 12월)을 이끌어냈다.
최근에는 강화군과 협업해 강화군 제1회 추가경정예산에 타당성조사 및 기본설계용역비 3억 원을 확보하는 등 사업 추진에 속도를 내고 있다.
인천시는 타당성조사 및 기본설계 용역을 2027년 3월까지 완료하고 향후 실시설계와 보상 등 절차를 이행하여 2032년 준공을 목표로 추진할 계획이다.
