충남교육청, 석유화학 인재 양성 시동

충청남도교육청이 지역 핵심 산업인 석유화학 분야의 전문 인재를 양성하기 위해 서산공업고등학교를 ‘제2기 협약형 특성화고’로 전환하고 본격적인 운영에 돌입했다.

충남교육청은 23일 서산공업고등학교에서 김지철 교육감, 이완섭 서산시장, 조동식 서산시의회 의장 등 지자체와 협약 기업, 교육 관계자 80여 명이 참석한 가운데 개교식을 개최했다. 이번 개교는 충남에서 두 번째로 성사된 협약형 특성화고 모델로, 올해 신입생 120명이 지역 산업의 미래를 짊어질 첫 발을 내디뎠다.

서산공업고는 HD현대오일뱅크, 한화토탈에너지스, 한국석유관리원 등 국내 주요 석유화학 기업 및 공공기관과 긴밀한 산학협력 체계를 구축했다. 

학교 측은 산학 겸임교사 제도를 적극 도입하고 첨단 실습 장비를 확충하는 등 현장 중심의 맞춤형 교육과정을 강화해, 졸업 후 별도의 재교육 없이 현장에 즉시 투입 가능한 실무형 인재를 육성하는 데 전력을 다할 방침이다.

이날 행사에서 김지철 교육감과 이완섭 시장은 학생 대표들에게 직접 교기와 배지를 수여하며, 지역 사회의 주역으로 성장할 학생들에게 자긍심과 책임감을 심어주었다.

김지철 교육감은 축사를 통해 “서산공업고의 개교는 충남의 학생들이 우수한 환경에서 교육받고 지역 핵심 산업의 역군으로 성장하는 선순환 교육 모델의 출발점”이라며, “앞으로 5년간 집중적인 지원을 통해 서산공업고가 대한민국 석유화학 산업 인재 양성의 중심지로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 모든 역량을 쏟겠다”고 강조했다.

충남교육청은 향후 협약형 특성화고의 안정적인 정착을 위해 대규모 예산 지원은 물론, 기업 맞춤형 교육과정 개발과 실습 환경 개선 등 행정적·재정적 지원을 지속적으로 이어갈 계획이다.
