박 예비후보는 26일 입장문을 내고 “27일로 예정됐던 언론사연합 주최 4자 정책토론회가 열리지 않게 된 데 대해 안타깝다”며 “시민 앞에서 정책과 비전을 설명하고 검증받을 기회가 사라졌다”고 밝혔다.
그는 “후보라면 자신의 정책을 시민에게 설명하고 평가받는 것이 기본 책무”라며 “토론을 회피하는 것은 책임 있는 정치의 모습이 아니다”라고 지적했다. 이어 “시민들이 후보를 비교하고 선택할 수 있는 장이 반드시 필요하다”고 강조했다.
박 예비후보는 토론회 준비 과정에서 마련한 주요 공약도 함께 제시했다. 철강산업과 관련해서는 산업 현장 중심의 소통 강화를 위해 ‘제2포항시장실’ 설치를 추진하고, 포스코와 협력해 철강 경쟁력 강화를 도모하겠다고 밝혔다. 또한 K-스틸법 지원과 지역 강재 활용 사업 등을 통해 산업 생태계를 확장하겠다는 구상이다.
미래 성장 전략으로는 SMR 소부장 산업, 방산 클러스터, 드론 산업, 이차전지와 수소·바이오 산업 육성을 제시하며 산업 다변화를 추진하겠다고 했다.
도심 재생과 관광 분야에서는 죽도시장과 포항운하, 중앙상가 등을 연계한 관광벨트 조성과 함께 대형 광장 및 미디어 시설 구축, 주차 인프라 확충 등을 통해 체류형 관광도시로 전환하겠다는 계획을 밝혔다. 해양체험시설과 순환형 관광버스 도입도 추진 과제로 포함됐다.
인구 감소 대응을 위해서는 일자리 창출과 주거·교육 환경 개선을 병행하고, 대학과 기업 간 연계를 강화해 지역 인재 정착을 유도하겠다고 설명했다. 청년 주거 지원과 창업 기반 확대도 함께 추진하겠다는 입장이다.
의료 정책으로는 연구중심 의과대학과 스마트병원 설립을 추진하고, 장기적으로 상급종합병원 유치를 통해 지역 의료 수준을 끌어올리겠다고 밝혔다. 아울러 수도권 대형병원과 협력해 지역에서도 전문 의료 서비스를 제공받을 수 있도록 하겠다고 덧붙였다.
박 예비후보는 “포항은 산업 전환과 인구 감소 등 중요한 과제를 동시에 안고 있는 상황”이라며 “이럴 때일수록 후보들이 시민 앞에 나와 정책과 역량을 검증받아야 한다”고 말했다. 이어 “정책 토론회가 다시 마련되기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
