브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 중동 전쟁 여파로 원유 수급 불안 우려가 제기되는 가운데 일부 지역에선 종량제 봉투 품귀 현상이 벌어지자, 정부는 공급 안정성을 강조하며 문제가 없을 것이라고 밝혔다.
김성환 기후에너지환경부 장관은 30일 페이스북을 통해 "종량제 봉투는 충분히 확보돼 있으며 가격 인상도 없다. 봉투 가격은 지방정부의 조례로 결정되는 만큼 공장에서 임의로 인상할 수 없다"고 말했다.
이어 "전국 지방정부와 생산 공장을 점검한 결과, 절반 이상의 지방정부가 이미 6개월 치 이상 물량을 확보한 상태"라며 "재생원료 사용 여력도 충분해 최소 1년 이상 공급에는 문제가 없다"고 강조했다.
또한 "만약 최악의 상황이 발생하더라도 일반봉투 사용 허용 등 대응책까지 마련해 둔 만큼 집에 쓰레기를 쌓아둘 일도 없을 것"이라며 "국민 일상에 불편이 없도록 끝까지 책임지고 관리하겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편 최근 비닐봉투가 부족해질 것이라는 루머가 돌면서, 종량제 봉투에 대한 수요가 급증한 것으로 나타났다.
서울시에 따르면 지난 21일부터 27일까지 자치구별 종량제 봉투 하루 평균 판매량은 약 270만 장으로, 이는 최근 3년 평균인 55만 장보다 약 4.9배에 달하는 양이다.
