부산경찰청-자치경찰위, 이륜차 대규모 광역단속 실시

[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산경찰청과 부산광역시 자치경찰위원회는 31일 오후 2시 30분부터 부산진구 서면교차로 일대에서 교통경찰, 경찰관 기동대, 한국교통안전공단, 관할 지자체 등 80여 명을 동원해 이륜차 광역단속을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

이번 단속은 부산뿐만 아니라 경남, 울산, 대구본부의 지원을 받아 서면교차로를 중심으로 연결된 주요 도로에서 이륜차를 대상으로 진행된다. 주요 단속 사항으로는 도로교통법 위반 및 소음 문제, 불법 구조 변경 등 자동차관리법 위반 행위가 포함된다.

부산경찰청은 2022년 하반기부터 전국 최초로 광역단속을 시작했으며, 이를 통해 이륜차 교통사고를 크게 줄일 수 있었다. 2021년에는 이륜차 교통사고가 1,497건에 달했으나, 지난해에는 983건으로 34% 감소했다.

부산경찰청은 이번 단속을 계기로 지속적인 이륜차 단속을 강화하고, 법규 준수를 위한 홍보 활동도 함께 전개할 예정이다. 경찰은 시민들의 보행 안전을 확보하고, 이륜차의 무질서한 행위를 근절하기 위해 더욱 노력할 것이라고 밝혔다.

또한, 부산경찰청 교통과는 이륜차와 PM(전동킥보드) 등 두 바퀴 운전자들에게 교통법규 준수와 안전모 착용을 당부하며, 이를 통해 안전한 교통질서를 확립하기 위한 지속적인 노력을 기울이겠다고 말했다.

Busan Metropolitan Police Agency to Conduct Large-Scale Motorcycle Crackdown 

Joint operation aims to prevent traffic accidents and curb disorderly conduct during spring travel season  

The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency (acting chief Jeong Seong-soo) and the Busan Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee announced that they will carry out a large-scale crackdown on motorcycles starting at 2:30 p.m. on March 31 around Seomyeon Intersection in Busanjin District. About 80 personnel, including traffic police, riot police, officials from the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and local government staff, will participate in the operation.

This joint crackdown will extend beyond Busan with support from the Gyeongnam, Ulsan, and Daegu regional police headquarters. The focus will be on violations of traffic laws, excessive noise, and unlawful vehicle modifications breaching the Automobile Management Act.

Since the Busan Police became the first in the country to launch regional motorcycle crackdowns in late 2022, the city has seen a significant drop in motorcycle-related accidents—from 1,497 cases in 2021 to 983 last year, marking a 34% decrease.

Building on that success, the Busan Police plan to strengthen continuous enforcement and promote awareness campaigns to encourage compliance with traffic regulations. The agency emphasized its commitment to ensuring pedestrian safety and eradicating reckless motorcycle behavior.

Additionally, the Traffic Division urged riders of motorcycles and personal mobility vehicles, such as electric scooters, to obey traffic laws and wear helmets, reaffirming the city's ongoing efforts to establish a safer traffic environment.
