군에 따르면 상원곡리 마을회(이장 표성연)는 지난 30일 주민 30여 명이 참여한 가운데 ‘봄맞이 마을 환경정화 활동’을 실시했다.
이날 주민들은 이른 아침부터 마을 도로변과 하천, 배수로 일대에 방치된 쓰레기를 수거하며 쾌적한 마을 환경 조성에 힘을 보탰다.
특히 이번 활동은 5월이면 하얗게 만개해 장관을 이루는 샤스타 데이지 꽃길 주변 정비에 집중됐다.
주민들은 마을을 찾는 관광객들에게 가장 아름다운 모습을 선보이기 위해 꽃밭 주변 환경을 세심하게 정돈했다.
표성연 이장은 “바쁜 농사철을 앞두고도 마을을 찾을 방문객들을 위해 한마음으로 참여해 주신 주민들께 감사드린다”며 “5월 데이지가 만개하는 시기에 많은 분들이 상원곡리를 찾아 편안한 휴식을 즐기길 바란다”고 말했다.
김용호 적성면장은 “주민들의 정성 어린 손길 덕분에 상원곡리의 데이지 꽃길이 더욱 빛을 발할 것으로 기대된다”며 “앞으로도 관광객들이 깨끗하고 아름다운 마을 환경 속에서 따뜻한 정을 느낄 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
