시는 국가지정유산 명승인 의림지 제림의 보존을 위해 노송 종자로 육성한 후계목 10그루를 솔밭공원으로 옮겨 심었다.
이번에 옮겨 심은 후계목은 2017년 국고보조사업인 의림지 제림 후계목 양묘장 조성 사업을 통해 육성된 개체로, 의림지 제림 노송의 수려한 외관과 강인한 생명력을 이어받아 성장해 향후 지역을 대표하는 또 하나의 명물로 자리매김할 것으로 기대된다.
이날 행사에는 최승환 제천시장 권한대행과 박영기 제천시의회 의장을 비롯해 지역 주민 대표와 관계 공무원 등 30여 명이 참석했다. 참가자들은 직접 후계목을 심으며 수백 년 역사의 생명력이 솔밭공원에서도 이어지기를 기원했다.
시 관계자는 “후계목 이식 행사가 시민과 자연이 함께 어우러지는 제천을 만들어가는 의미 있는 출발이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 후계목 식재를 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.

Jecheon City Transplants 10 Successor Pine Trees from Uirimji Jerim to Solbat Park
