[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 북한의 잇단 미사일 발사와 조롱성 담화가 이어지는 가운데, 국민의힘이 이재명 대통령의 대북 대응을 두고 “굴종적 유화”라며 강하게 비판했다.
박성훈 국민의힘 수석대변인은 8일 발표한 논평에서 “이재명 대통령의 유화적 행보는 이제 ‘비굴한 저자세’로 불릴 만큼 심각하다”며 “대통령의 사과와 유감 표명은 대한민국을 ‘언제든 짓밟아도 되는 만만한 대상’으로 낙인찍게 만들었다”고 주장했다.
박 대변인은 “무인기 사태 이후 대통령이 먼저 고개를 숙이며 유감을 표한 직후, 북한은 미사일 도발로 뒤통수를 쳤다”며 “김여정 담화를 두고 정부가 ‘의미 있는 진전’이라 평가하던 때 외무성은 ‘개꿈’, ‘멍청한 바보’라는 조롱을 퍼부었다”고 구체적으로 언급했다.
그는 이어 “북한은 과거에도 모든 유화적 제스처를 굴복으로 받아들였지만, 이재명 정부는 같은 실수를 반복하고 있다”고 지적했다. 또 “김정은이 대한민국을 ‘제1 적대국’으로 규정한 상황에서 대화와 교류는 사실상 불가능하다”며 “이는 단순한 판단 착오가 아니라 현실 인식의 부재이자 안보 감각의 붕괴”라고 비판했다.
박 수석대변인은 “북한이 우리 영공을 먼저 침범하고 군사적 긴장을 고조시킨 상황에서, 대통령이 나서서 먼저 유감을 표하는 것이 과연 정상적인 국가의 대응인가?"라며 “국민 자존을 스스로 내던진 저자세 대북관, 굴종적 유화는 결코 평화를 만들지 못한다. 오히려 국가의 위상을 깎아내리고 상대의 오판만 키울 것"이라고 주장했다.
이어 "지금 필요한 것은 저자세 사과가 아니라 도발에는 반드시 대가가 따른다는 단호한 대응과 명확한 메시지가 필요하다”면서 "만약 그것조차 지키지 못한다면 북한의 도발은 결코 멈추지 않을 것이며, 이는 정부의 대북 정책 실패를 넘어 굴욕의 역사로 기록될 수밖에 없다"라고 경고했다.

Amid escalating missile launches and mocking statements from North Korea, the People Power Party (PPP) has launched a stinging critique of President Lee Jae-myung’s approach toward the North, labeling it "subservient appeasement."
In a commentary released on the 8th, Park Sung-hoon, the senior spokesperson for the PPP, stated, "President Lee’s conciliatory moves have reached a point of severity that can only be described as a 'cringing, low-profile stance.' The President’s apologies and expressions of regret have branded South Korea as an easy target that can be trampled upon at any time."
Spokesperson Park specifically pointed out that "Immediately after the President lowered his head to express regret following the drone incident, North Korea stabbed us in the back with a missile provocation. While the administration was busy evaluating Kim Yo-jong's statement as a 'meaningful step forward,' the North Korean Foreign Ministry was busy hurling insults, calling us 'fools' and dismissing our efforts as a 'pipe dream.'"
He further noted, "North Korea has historically interpreted all conciliatory gestures as signs of surrender, yet the Lee Jae-myung administration continues to repeat the same mistakes. With Kim Jong-un officially defining South Korea as the 'primary hostile state,' dialogue and exchange are practically impossible. This is not a mere error in judgment; it is a total lack of situational awareness and a collapse of national security intuition."
Park continued his critique, asking, "In a situation where North Korea violated our airspace first and escalated military tensions, is it a normal state response for the President to be the one to step forward and apologize? A low-profile North Korea policy that throws away national pride and relies on subservient appeasement will never bring peace. Instead, it will only damage our national standing and fuel the enemy's miscalculations."
He concluded with a warning: "What we need now is not a low-profile apology, but a firm response and a clear message that every provocation comes with a price. If we fail to uphold even that, North Korea’s provocations will never cease, and this will be recorded not just as a failure of policy, but as a history of national humiliation.
