10일 김영록 예비후보 캠프 측에 따르면, 여수 출신의 김 전 의원은 이병훈 전 의원과 함께 총괄상임선대위원장이라는 중책을 맡아 선거 운동 전반을 진두지휘하고 있다.
제21대 국회의원을 지낸 김 전 의원은 광주지검 검사장 등을 거친 베테랑 법조인 출신이다. 더불어민주당 법률위원장 등 당내 주요 보직을 역임하며 정치적 역량과 법률적 전문성을 두루 갖췄다는 평을 받는다.
