민주당 대전 중구청장 경선 '김제선·육상래' 결선 확정

제9회 전국동시지방선거 더불어민주당 대전 중구청장 후보 선출을 위한 경선이 결선 투표로 이어진다.

더불어민주당 대전시당은 10일 밤, 중구청장 본경선 결과 김제선 현 중구청장과 육상래 전 중구의원이 최종 결선에 진출했다고 발표했다.

지난 9일부터 10일까지 이틀간 실시된 이번 본경선에는 강철승, 김제선, 육상래, 전병용(가나다순) 등 총 4명의 예비후보가 참여해 치열한 경쟁을 벌였다. 

경선 결과 김제선, 육상래 후보가 상위 2인에 이름을 올렸으며, 강철승, 전병용 후보는 아쉽게 탈락의 고배를 마셨다.

과반 득표자가 나오지 않음에 따라 두 후보는 당내 최종 공천권을 거머쥐기 위해 한 차례 더 맞대결을 펼치게 된다. 

이번 결선에서 승리하는 최종 후보는 앞서 공천을 확정 지은 국민의힘 김선광 후보와 함께 본선에서 중구청장 자리를 놓고 진검승부를 벌일 예정이다.

A total of four preliminary candidates—Kang Cheol-seung, Kim Je-seon, Yuk Sang-rae, and Jeon Byeong-yong (in alphabetical order)—participated in this main primary, which was held over two days from the 9th to the 10th, engaging in fierce competition.

As a result of the primary, Kim Je-seon and Yuk Sang-rae secured the top two spots, while Kang Cheol-seung and Jeon Byeong-yong unfortunately faced elimination. As no candidate secured a majority of the votes, the two candidates will face off once more to clinch the party's final nomination.

The final candidate who wins this runoff will engage in a fierce battle for the position of Jung-gu District Mayor in the main election against Kim Seon-gwang of the People Power Party, who has already secured the nomination.
