네타냐후 이스라엘 총리가 재판을 앞두고 '긴박한 상황'을 이유로 법원에 제출한 재판 연기 신청이 받아들여져, 재판이 다시 2주 연기되었다.
그는 2019년 사기, 배임(신뢰 상실), 뇌물수수 혐의 등으로 기소되었지만, 재판이 있을 때마다 국가안보 상 긴급 상황(state of emergency)을 이유로 연기 신청하여 7년째 법망을 피해왔다.
법원이 재판연기 신청을 인용하자마자 그는 전투복을 입고 보란 듯이 남부 레바논 지역에서 헤즈볼라 섬멸작전 중인 부대를 순시하며 이스라엘 군인들을 격려했다.
네타냐후는 최근 유럽사회로부터 '현대판 히틀러'라는 악평을 듣고 있다. 제노사이드(genocide) 수준의 살육과 파괴를 본인과 이스라엘 국가의 존립 근거로 삼고 있기 때문이다.
하마스의 근거지를 궤멸하겠다는 명분으로 지난 2년간 가자지구를 무차별 폭격하여 7만 명을 살해했다. 공격목표에는 제네바협약과 추가의정서에서 금지하고 있는 병원과 학교도 다수 포함되었다.
숙적 이란을 괴멸시키기 위해 수시로 이란 지도부를 무차별 살해해왔으며, 현재 레바논을 장악한 헤즈볼라를 섬멸한다는 명분으로 레바논 남부 주택가를 무차별 폭격, 포격하여 300여 명의 사망자, 1,000여 명의 부상자, 수천 명의 난민을 양산했다.
과거에 입은 피해로 현재의 가해를 정당화할 수 있을까?
네타냐후의 이스라엘은 과거 약자로 당했던 핍박 방식 그대로 핍박을 가하고 있다. 건국 이래 이스라엘의 야만적 행위로 팔레스타인과 아랍, 서아시아 지역에서 희생당한 사람의 수가 100만 명이라는 설도 있다.
이스라엘은 서기 70년 로마에 의해 파괴되어, 디아스포라로 유럽 각지로 흩어져 살면서 온갖 핍박을 받아왔으며, 특히 2차 대전 시에는 히틀러의 나치에 의해 600만 명이 희생당하는 '홀로코스트'를 경험했다.
가해자 독일의 참회와 국제사회의 동정을 얻어 천신만고 끝에 유태인들은 1948년 UN결의에 따라 아랍인들이 거주하고 있는 팔레스타인 땅에 비집고 들어가 이스라엘 국가를 건국했다.
그나마도, UN이 인정하여 아랍인들이 살고 있는 팔레스타인 지역에 불법적인 '정착촌(Israeli settlements)'을 건설하여 남아있는 팔레스타인인들을 쫓아내고 있다.
히틀러가 아우슈비츠 수용소 가스챔버에서 '죽임의 효율화'를 통해 유태인을 대량 학살했듯, 지금은 이스라엘이 백린탄을 투하하는 등 가공할 무기들로 상대에게 죽임의 효율화를 통해 대량파괴와 대량학살을 자행하고 있다.
히틀러가, 프리드리히 레첼이 처음 제시한 '아리아인의 생활공간(lebensraum 레베스라움)'의 지리적 개념을 정치 군사적으로 왜곡, 동유럽과 슬라브 민족을 침공하여 그들의 주거지역을 점령하며 영토를 넓히려 했듯,
네타냐후는 테오도르 헤르츨이 창시한 국제협력과 외교 중심의 시오니즘(Zionism) 개념을 군사안보적 개념으로 왜곡하여, 군사력을 통한 팔레스탄에서의 영토 확보와 중동 지역에서의 지배권을 장악하기 위해 '유대인의 생활공간'의 야욕을 펼치고 있다.
역사, 종교, 영토 문제가 첨예하게 얽혀있는 팔레스타인 지역에 분쟁은 불가피하다고 주장하지만, 중동에 평화 무드가 조성된 적이 없었던 것은 아니다.
1990년대 이스라엘의 온건파 수상 이츠하크 라빈과 팔레스타인해방기구(PLO)의 의장 야세르 이라파트가 서명한 오슬로 협정을 필두로, 양측 간에 두 차례의 평화협정이 더 있었다. 하지만 양측의 극단주의자들의 방해로 평화무드는 오래 가지 못했다.
오슬로 평화협정에 서명한 라빈 수상이 1995년에 암살되고 당시 외무장관이었던 시몬 페레스가 총리 직을 승계하였지만, 다음해 총선에서 극우파의 지지를 등에 업은 네타냐후에게 패하였다.
네타냐후는 1996년 이래 총선에서 연거푸 승리했지만, 우파 리쿠드당 단독정부를 수립하지 못하고 더욱 강경한 극우 정당들과 연정을 하여왔다. 국방장관, 재무장관 등 라빈 수상을 암살한 극우파 후예들이 지금 네타냐후 내각에서 전쟁을 추동하고 있다.
오늘은 마침 이스라엘에서 홀로코스트를 추모하는 날, 국제형사재판소(ICC)로부터 전쟁범죄 및 반 인도범죄 혐의의 조사 대상자로 지목된 네타냐후 이스라엘 총리에게 충고하고 싶다.
"네가 하기 싫은 것을 남에게 하지 마라" 그것이 당신들이 경전으로 삼고 있는 탈무드에서의 힐렐(Hillel)의 말씀 아니냐고.

Although he was indicted in 2019 on charges of fraud, breach of trust, and bribery, he has evaded the law for seven years by requesting a postponement every time a trial was scheduled, citing a state of emergency regarding national security.
As soon as the court granted the postponement request, he donned a combat uniform and conspicuously inspected units engaged in operations to eliminate Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, encouraging Israeli soldiers.
Netanyahu has recently been criticized by European society as a "modern-day Hitler." This is because he bases the existence of himself and the State of Israel on genocidal-level slaughter and destruction. Israel was destroyed by Rome in 70 AD, and its people have lived as a diaspora scattered across Europe, enduring all manner of persecution. In particular, during World War II, they experienced the Holocaust, in which six million people perished at the hands of Hitler's Nazis.
After much hardship, gaining the repentance of the perpetrator Germany and the sympathy of the international community, the Jewish people established the State of Israel in 1948, encroaching upon Palestinian land inhabited by Arabs in accordance with a UN resolution.
Even then, they are constructing illegal "Israeli settlements" in Palestinian areas recognized by the UN and inhabited by Arabs, thereby driving out the remaining Palestinians.
