서병열 법사는 불교뿐만 아니라 “정계, 학계, 사회 등 다방면으로 활동해왔다. 헌법기관인 대통령 직속 민주평화통일 자문회의(민주평통)를 제15기부터 22기(이명박-박근혜-문재인-윤석열-이재명 대통령)까지 연임, 평화통일 역량강화에 앞장서왔다.
