재단은 최근 사업의 시작을 알리는 착수설명회를 개최하고, 선발된 대학생들과 함께 본격적인 활동에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.
‘곡성형 미네르바 대학’은 캠퍼스 없는 대학으로 유명한 세계적 혁신 교육 모델 ‘미네르바 대학’의 운영 방식을 곡성군의 지역적 특성에 맞춰 재설계한 사업이다. 전국 각지에서 수학 중인 곡성 출신 대학생들이 모여 지역 문제를 깊이 고민하고, 실질적인 해결 방안을 모색하는 실천형 교육 프로그램으로 기획되었다.
비대면으로 진행된 이번 설명회에는 지난 3월 엄격한 심사를 통해 선정된 대학생 16명과 이들의 활동을 도울 일본 현지 석·박사 과정 멘토 4명이 참여했다. 이날 행사에서는 전체 사업 계획 공유와 함께 팀별 멘토 매칭 및 향후 세부 일정이 안내되었다.
참여 학생들은 전공과 관심사에 따라 ▲문화예술(1팀) ▲음식관광(1팀) ▲환경에너지(2팀) 등 총 4개 팀으로 구성되었다. 이들은 오는 6월까지 팀 빌딩과 정기적인 멘토링을 통해 활동 계획서를 고도화하는 과정을 거친다.
프로젝트의 핵심 과정인 ‘글로벌 단기 캠프’는 오는 7월 5일부터 일주일간 일본 오사카 일원에서 진행될 예정이다. 학생들은 해외 현장을 직접 견학하며 곡성군 지역 현안 해결을 위한 실마리를 찾게 된다. 캠프 종료 후에는 결과발표대회를 통해 최우수 1개 팀을 시상할 계획이다.
