매포읍에 따르면 16일 상시리에서는 화재 피해를 입은 주택에 대한 철거 작업이 이른 아침부터 진행됐다.
해당 주택은 저소득 독거노인 우모 씨(86·여)의 거주지로, 지난 7일 화재가 발생한 바 있다.
매포읍은 피해 가구의 어려운 사정을 고려해 조속한 생활 안정과 일상 복귀를 돕기 위해 발 빠르게 철거 작업에 착수했다.
이번 작업은 매포읍을 중심으로 군청 재무과와 환경과의 협조를 받아 추진됐다.
이날 현장에는 매포읍 직원들이 직접 참여한 가운데 마을에서도 이장과 지도자, 주민들이 함께 힘을 보태며 철거 작업을 도왔다.
또 마을 주민들은 사용 가능한 가재도구를 분류했고, 관내 고철 수거업체는 고철 등을 별도로 분리·수거하며 힘을 보탰다.
장비와 차량은 읍사무소의 연계를 통해 지원됐으며, 군청 덤프트럭도 투입돼 원활한 작업이 이뤄졌다.
