전 대표는 지난 3월 27일 스리랑카의 스리다르모다야 프리치나 판디트 상가대학교로부터 명예 철학박사 학위를 수여받았다. 대학 측은 인간과 자연, 과학과 문명, 환경 및 재해안전 분야에서의 사회적 기여를 높이 평가하며, 그의 활동이 불교 교리에 부합하는 헌신적 삶으로서 세계 평화와 복지 증진에 기여했다고 밝혔다.
