대구보건대학교는 ‘국제협력 선도대학 육성 지원사업(ODA)’ 2단계 평가에서 우수 등급을 획득했다고 20일 밝혔다. 이 사업은 국내 대학의 교육 역량과 자원을 활용해 개발도상국의 고등교육 경쟁력 강화를 지원하는 교육 공적개발원조(ODA) 사업이다.
대구보건대는 2022년 전문대학 최초로 해당 사업에 선정된 이후 안정적으로 사업을 운영해 오고 있다. 대학은 인도네시아 자카르타 보건산업기술대학Ⅱ(Jakarta Health PolytechnicⅡ)과 2021년 업무협약을 체결하고 현지 치과 보건의료 인재 양성에 나섰다.
인도네시아는 급성장하는 디지털 치과 분야에 비해 전문 인력과 교육과정이 부족한 상황으로, 양 기관의 협력 필요성이 높았다. 이에 따라 대구보건대는 1단계 사업을 통해 현지 디지털 치과기공센터 구축, 교육과정 개발, 인도네시아 보건부 승인 등 제도적 기반을 마련했다.
이어 2단계 사업에서는 전공 교재 개발과 교원 역량 강화 교육, K-덴탈 콘텐츠 확산 등을 추진하며 사업 성과를 구체화했다.
특히 사업 책임자인 김경용 국제교류처장(사회복지학과 교수)은 2025년도 교육 공적개발원조(ODA) 유공자로 선정돼 교육부 장관 표창을 수상하는 등 성과를 인정받았다.
김경용 국제교류처장은 “연속 우수 평가는 대학의 글로벌 보건의료 교육 역량과 K-덴탈 시스템의 우수성이 현지에서 입증된 결과”라며 “앞으로도 현지 대학이 자립적인 보건의료 인재 양성 체계를 갖출 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 대구보건대는 현재 3단계 사업에 착수했으며, 내년 3월까지 현지 교육 장비 추가 지원과 학사학위 과정 개설·승인 절차를 추진할 계획이다.

Daegu Health College announced on the 20th that it had obtained an ‘Excellent’ grade in the Phase 2 evaluation of the ‘Support Project for Leading University for International Cooperation (ODA).’ This project is an educational Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiative that supports the strengthening of higher education competitiveness in developing countries by utilizing the educational capabilities and resources of domestic universities.
Since being selected for this project in 2022 as the first junior college to do so, Daegu Health College has been operating the program stably. The college signed a memorandum of understanding with Jakarta Health Polytechnic II in Indonesia in 2021 and set out to cultivate local dental healthcare talent.
As Indonesia faces a shortage of specialized personnel and educational curricula compared to the rapidly growing field of digital dentistry, the need for cooperation between the two institutions was high. Accordingly, Daegu Health College established an institutional foundation through Phase 1 of the project, including the construction of a local digital dental laboratory, the development of a curriculum, and approval from the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
Subsequently, in Phase 2, the college concretized its achievements by promoting the development of major textbooks, faculty capacity-building training, and the dissemination of K-Dental content.
In particular, Kim Kyung-yong, the Director of the Office of International Exchange (Professor of Social Welfare) and the project leader, received recognition for his accomplishments, including being selected as a recipient of the 2025 Official Development Assistance (ODA) Award for Education and receiving a commendation from the Minister of Education.
Director Kim stated, "The continuous excellent evaluations are a result of the local proof of the university's global healthcare education capabilities and the excellence of the K-Dental system," adding, "We will continue to provide support so that the local university can establish an independent system for cultivating healthcare talent."
Meanwhile, Daegu Health College has currently embarked on Phase 3 of the project and plans to proceed with additional support for local educational equipment and the procedures for opening and obtaining approval for a bachelor's degree program by March of next year.
