이재명 대통령이 20일(현지시간) 나렌드라 모디 인도 총리와의 정상회담 후 “기존 경제 협력을 더 고도화하고 조선·금융·AI(인공지능)·국방·방산 비롯 전략 산업 분야 협력을 확대하며 문화·인적 교류도 한층 강화해 나가기로 했다”고 밝혔다.
청와대에 따르면 이 대통령은 이날 뉴델리 영빈관 하이데라바드 하우스 공동언론발표에서 “한·인도 간 경제 협력 틀을 고도화해 동반 성장 새 동력을 창출키로 했다“며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 “포괄적 경제 동반자 협정 개선 협상을 가속화해 신통상 규범을 충분히 반영한 방향으로 협정을 조속 개선키로 했다”며 "장관급 경제 협력 플랫폼 산업협력위를 신설해 무역·투자·핵심광물·원전·청정에너지 등 전략 분야 협력을 강화키로 했다”고 말했다.

더불어 "현재 연간 250억 달러 수준 양국 교역을 2030년까지 500억 달러 수준으로 확대할 것”이라며 "한국 기업 우수 기술력과 인도 중앙·지방정부 조선 시설 건설 지원·선박 발주 수요 보장·선박 생산 보조금 지급 등 정책 지원을 결합해 한국 기업이 인도 조선 시장서 새 기회를 모색할 수 있도록 하기로 했다”고 전했다.
