청와대가 21일(현지시간) "이재명 대통령·나렌드라 모디 인도 총리 간 한·인도 정상회담은 한국의 글로벌 사우스 외교 본격 가동을 알리는 계기가 될 것”이라고 전했다.
위성락 국가안보실장은 이날 오전 서면브리핑에서 “14억 인구 바탕으로 고속 성장 중인 인도와 협력 지평을 확대할 수 있게 됐다”며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "양 정상은 민주주의 가치관을 바탕으로 광범위한 협력을 이루는 게 중요하다는 것에 의견을 함께 했다"며 "아시아 대표 민주주의 국가인 양국 간 협력이 큰 시너지를 낼 거란 기대감을 드러냈다"고 전했다.
또 "이 대통령은 향후 적절한 시기 모디 총리의 한국 방문을 초청했다"며 "모디 총리도 긍정 화답했다"고 전했다.
이어 "소인수 회담 경우 40분 가량 소요를 예상했으나 1시간 이상 길게 진행됐다"며 "양측 의전 담당자가 일정 지연 관련 두 정상에 주의 환기하는 일도 벌어졌다"고 전했다.
더불어 "이 대통령·드라우파디 무르무 인도 대통령도 국빈 만찬을 진행했으며 오후 8시30분(현지시간) 종료 예정이었으나 1시간 늦은 9시 40분에 마치는 등 충분한 교감 시간을 가졌다"고 덧붙였다.
