민생당 제32차 비상대책위원회가 비난 6일 서울 영등포구 여의도 중앙당사 회의실에서 열렸다. 이 당의 이수봉 비상대책위원장은 모두발언에서 “지난 신년사를 통해 지금 한국정치는 난장판이 되어있다고 말씀드렸고 그 책임은 일차적으로 집권여당에 있다는 말씀을 드렸습니다. 그러나 동시에 이를 심판할 주체가 아직 제대로 서있지 않다는 말씀도 드렸습니다.”면서 “보수세력인 국민의힘도 절대적인 지지를 받고 있지 못하고 안철수 국민의당 후보 역시 오월동주의 불안전한 지지도를 버티고 있을 뿐입니다”고 덧붙였다. 아래는 이날 발언의 주요 내용이다.

“새해 첫 비대위 회의입니다. 지난 신년사를 통해 지금 한국정치는 난장판이 되어있다고 말씀드렸고 그 책임은 일차적으로 집권여당에 있다는 말씀을 드렸습니다. 그러나 동시에 이를 심판할 주체가 아직 제대로 서있지 않다는 말씀도 드렸습니다. 보수세력인 국민의힘도 절대적인 지지를 받고 있지 못하고 안철수 국민의당 후보 역시 오월동주의 불안전한 지지도를 버티고 있을 뿐입니다.
이번 보궐선거는 대단히 중요합니다. 제3지대의 열망이 살아있음을 후보를 통해 알려낼 수 있는 중요한 시험대입니다. 사실 그동안 양당 기득권체제를 극복하기 위한 제3정치세력들은 주요한 선거 때마다 준비 안 된 모습들을 국민에게 보임으로써 계속 실패해 왔습니다. 민생당은 그런 심각한 실수들을 극복하기 위해 안간힘을 쓰고 있지만 워낙 깊은 병이어서 회복에 시간이 걸리고 있습니다.
그러나 지금 이 순간 민주당과 국민의힘 그리고 안철수 후보의 불안한 선거 구도는 언제 무너질지 모르는 위태로운 민심의 바다 위에 떠있습니다. 이번 선거는 문재인 정권에 대한 심판의 성격이 분명합니다. 그러나 제대로 된 심판이 이루어지기 어려운 정치지형이 현재 당면한 한국정치의 문제입니다. 정말 상식 있는 국민이라면 집권민주당에 대해 엄중한 심판을 내려야 한다고 생각합니다. 그러나 국민의힘으로 대표되는 구(舊(구)) 적폐세력들이 과연 심판의 자격이 있는가 회의하고 있습니다. 그리고 심판하겠다고 나온 안철수 후보에 대해서도 뭔가 미덥지 못하다는 평가를 내리고 있습니다. 안철수 후보 개인에 대한 평가는 차치하고라도 구(舊) 적폐세력과 손잡고 현 정권을 심판한다고 하더라도 그 이후 과연 제대로 개혁이 가능할 것인가? 구적폐세력들이 도와준 대가를 달라고 했을 때 그것을 거부할 수 있을까? 그것은 불가능할 것입니다. 그렇게 된다면 과연 한국정치가 제대로 발전할 수 있을까? 에 대한 회의가 있는 것입니다. 그리고 그 회의는 지극히 정당한 의문입니다.
바로 그래서 우리 민생당의 역할이 있는 것입니다.
우리 당은 그동안 참혹한 패배를 겪었고 사실상 뇌사상태에 빠졌던 당입니다. 이런 참담한 상황에서 비상대책위가 꾸려진 것 자체가 다행스러운 일입니다. 당을 참패로 만들었던 온갖 내부 악습들, 모함과 유언비어로 분열시키고 폭력행위를 자행하던 자들에게서 당을 지켜왔을 뿐 아니라 애매한 중도주의노선에서 탈피하고 제3정치경제론을 발전시키고 지도체제를 정상화시켜 왔습니다. 우리 당은 이제 부활의 날개 짓을 힘차게 할 때가 되었습니다.
올해 우리당에서 가장 중요한 것은 패배주의를 극복하는 것입니다. 우리는 패배했었습니다. 원외정당으로 전락하면서 활동공간이 철저히 배제되었습니다. 그러나 동지들! 우리가 가졌던 꿈 그 자체가 패배한 것은 아닙니다. 오히려 지금 상황에서 우리의 노선이 얼마나 정당했는가 보여주고 있습니다. 민주당의 실정. 국민의힘의 한계들은 제3정치세력의 필요성은 여전히 살아있음을 보여주고 있습니다.
그러나 안타깝게도 제3정치세력이 민생당과 국민의당으로 분열됨으로써 국민들에게 온전한 희망을 전해주지 못하고 있습니다. 더구나 국민의당은 제3정치대열에서 흔들리면서 보수정당과 연대하려는 움직임을 보여주고 있습니다. 이것은 그동안 실패해온 제3정치의 오류를 다시 반복하는 일이 될 것입니다. 국민의당과 바른정당이 합당한 것이 얼마나 참담한 결과를 가져왔는지 보고서도 또 이런 전략적 실수를 되풀이해서는 안 됩니다. 지금 안철수 후보와 국민의힘이 연대하는 것은 정치발전이 아니라 후퇴이고 제3정치세력의 싹을 스스로 자르는 중대한 과오가 될 것임을 분명히 충고드립니다.
저는 다시 한번 분명히 말씀드리는데 당당하게 제3지대 연합후보전선을 만들 것을 강력히 주장합니다. 우리도 당 후보를 당당히 내고 그 연합전선의 일원으로 참여해서 민생당의 제3정치경제노선에 따른 정책으로 승부를 낼 것입니다.
