삼성그룹 같은 대기업이 한국기업이라는 게 대한민국 다수의 국민들에겐 자부심일 수 있다. 필자는 1980년대 후반부 시대를 미국 뉴욕 맨해튼에서 기자생활을 했었다. 이때 삼성 광고판이 브로드웨이의 한 건물에 우뚝 걸렸다. 우리나라 기업인 삼성의 선전판이 맨해튼 중심부에 걸린 것이다. 기분이 묘(妙) 했다. 광고판을 바라 볼 때마다, 가슴이 저려오는 감을 느꼈다.
