브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 가짜 뉴스 등을 허위·조작 기사를 보도한 언론사에 최대 5배의 징벌적 손해배상을 부과하는 내용의 언론중재법 개정안이 19일 국회 문화체육관광위원회를 통과했다. 더불어민주당은 법안의 필요성을 주장하며 강행 처리 의사를 분명히 했고 야당은 언론자유를 침해한다며 강하게 반발했다.
국회 문체위는 이날 오전 전체회의를 열고 '언론중재 및 피해구제 등에 관한 법률 일부개정법률안(언론중재법 개정안)' 대안을 상정해 가결했다. 개정안은 전체 16명 중 9명이 찬성해 통과됐다. 민주당 소속 위원들과 김의겸 열린민주당 의원이 모두 찬성표를 던졌다.
국민의힘 의원들은 강하게 반발하며 상임위원장석을 에워싸고 반대 입장을 표명하자, 민주당 등 범여권 의원들은 기립표결로 통과시켰다.
