울진군, ‘모천회귀성 연어’ 관광자원화 한다

울진군(군수 전찬걸)은 모천회귀성 연어의 관광자원화와 지역경제 활성화를 위해 지난 10월 29일 군청 대회의실에서 ‘울진 연어 관광자원화 기본구상 연구용역’ 중간보고회를 가졌다고 2일 밝혔다.

이번 용역은 연어의 생육습성인 강에서 태어난 후 바다에 나가 성장하다가 성숙해서 알을 낳을 때가 되면 다시 태어난 강으로 돌아오는 모천회귀성 특성을 이용해, 단순히 포획·부화·방류하는 수산자원이 아니라 생태적인 연구콘텐츠, 스토리텔링의 문화산업, 테마가 있는 관광산업, 모천회귀성의 교육가치 등 고부가가치를 창출하는 블루오션의 관광자원화와 지역경제 활성화를 위한 전략수립을 목적으로 시작됐다.

용역사인 대구한의대학교 산학협력단은 울진 연어 관광자원화를 위하여 △왕피천 연어 관광도로 및 트레킹로드 조성 △연어 페스티벌 개최 △연어 인문학 카페 조성 △연어테마 실경공연장 조성 △연어마을조성 등 기존 유사 관광자원화 사례와는 차별화된 관광자원화 방안을 제시했다.

이번 보고회에는 울진군지역발전협의회 관광분과 위원과 해당지역 주민들이 참석하여 체험관광 아이템 발굴, 연어축제의 구체적 실행방안 등의 의견을 제시했다.

전찬걸 울진군수는“본 연구는 연어 관광자원화를 목표로 하면서, 장기적으로는 왕피천 국가정원 지정 등의 큰 목표를 이루기 위한 디딤돌이 되는 연구용역이다”라면서 “보고회에서 제시된 의견을 적극 반영하여 내실있는 관광자원화 전략을 수립해주길 바란다”라고 말했다.

한편, 군에서는 본 보고회에서 제시된 의견을 반영하는 동시에, 관계부서 협의를 통하여 울진 연어 관광자원화를 위한 과업수행을 오는 12월에 마무리할 예정이다.

In this report, members of the tourism subcommittee of the Uljin-gun Regional Development Council and local residents attended and presented opinions on excavating experiential tourism items and specific implementation plans for the salmon festival.

Uljin County Mayor Jeon Chan-geol said, “This study aims to turn salmon tourism into a resource, and in the long term, it is a research service that serves as a stepping stone to achieve big goals such as designation of Wangpicheon National Garden. I hope that you will establish a tourism resource conversion strategy.”

Meanwhile, the military will reflect the opinions presented in this report and complete the task of turning Uljin salmon into a tourism resource through consultation with related departments in December.
