희망브리지 전국재해구호협회(회장 송필호)가 김정희 사무총장이 중앙 안전관리 민관협력위원회(이하 중앙민관협력위원회) 공동위원장에 선임됐다고 30일 밝혔다.
중앙민관협력위원회는 재난 및 안전관리기본법에 따라 재난‧안전 분야 공무원과 민간전문가로 구성된다. 재난‧안전관리 민관협력 활동 사업의 효율적 운영방안을 협의하고, 재난이 발생하면 인적‧물적 자원 동원, 인명구조‧피해복구 활동 참여, 피해 주민 지원 등을 추진한다.
행정안전부 재난안전관리본부장과 행안부 장관이 지명한 민간위원이 공동위원장을 맡으며, 김 사무총장은 전날 민간위원 투표를 거쳐 공동위원장으로 선임됐다. 임기는 2년이다.
김 사무총장은 “중앙민관협력위원회 공동위원장이라는 중책을 맡게 돼 막중한 책임감을 느낀다”며 “민관이 협력해 코로나19 위기를 슬기롭게 타개하고, 어려운 이웃들과 도움이 필요한 분야에 지원해 나갈 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
재난 구호모금 전문기관인 희망브리지 전국재해구호협회는 1961년 전국의 신문사와 방송사, 사회단체가 힘을 모아 설립한 순수 민간단체이자 국내 자연재해 피해 구호금을 지원할 수 있는 유일한 법정 구호단체다.
60년 동안 1조5천억 원의 성금과 6천만 점 넘는 구호물품을 지원했다. 특히 지난해 코로나19 극복 성금 1천8억 원을 모금해 3천7백만 점 가까운 물품을 방역 취약계층과 의료진, 치료시설 입소자 등에게 전달했다.
