4개월간 공석이었던 창원시립교향악단 예술감독 및 상임지휘자에 김 건 지휘자가 위촉되면서 앞으로 3년간 창원시립교향악단을 이끈다.
김 건 예술감독 겸 상임지휘자는 미국에서 커티스 음악원을 졸업하고 2007년 제8회 Grzegorz Fitelberg 국제콩쿨에서 입상하며 지휘자로서 우수성과 음악성을 인정받았으며, 인디애나 주립대학교에서 데이빗 에프론과 아서 페건을 사사하며 박사학위를 수료했다.
