[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 창원시는 7일 미래 에너지시장 게임체인저인 소형모듈원자로(SMR) 산업육성을 위해 한국원자력학회와 ‘소형모듈원자로 산업육성 업무협약식’을 가졌다.
소형모듈원자로는 300MWe이하의 공장 제작이 가능한 모듈형 원자로로, 원자로와 증기발생기, 냉각재 펌프, 가압기 등 주요 기기를 하나의 용기에 일체화시켜 기존 대형원전대비 약 10분의 1 크기이며, 새로운 혁신 설계 개념을 적용해 안전성과 활용성을 대폭 높인 것이 특징이다.
