[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 서일준 국회의원은 거제시에 추진되는 한-아세안 국가 정원 사업을 위한 협약식 개최가 매우 뜻깊고 기쁘게 생각한다고 15일 밝혔다.
이날 협약식은 산림청과 경상남도 및 거제시가 ▲한-아세안 국가 정원 등 정원 조성?관리를 위한 협력 ▲정원 분야 전문인력 양성을 위한 협력 ▲정원문화 활성화를 위한 캠페인 등을 통한 주민 인식 제고 협력 ▲경남?거제 지역을 정원 도시로 육성하기 위한 협력 등을 위해 15일 경상남도 도청에서 마련됐다.
협약식에는 최병암 산림청장과 권장현 서부지방산림청장, 하병필 경남도지사 권한대행을 비롯한 지자체 관계자들, 제방훈 보좌관(서일준 국회의원실) 등이 참석했다.
한-아세안 국가 정원은 거제시 동부면 구천리 일대 200ha 규모로 인도네시아, 태국, 베트남 등 국가별 문화 특징을 담은 정원을 조성하는 것으로서, 지난 ‘2019 한·아세안 특별정상회의 공동 의장 성명'에서 채택한 과제다.
이에 따라 한-아세안 국가 정원이 조성되면, 조선업 불황으로 장기간 경제침체를 겪고 있는 경남과 거제시가 국제적인 관광 도시로 발돋움하고, 우리나라의 국제적인 위상을 드높이는 계기가 될 전망이다.
서일준 의원은 인사말을 통해 “한-아세안 우호의 상징이 될 국가 정원이 거제시에 조성되게 되어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”고 밝히며, “우리나라와 아세안 국가가 두터운 신뢰를 쌓을 수 있는 기대감과 시민들과의 약속에 큰 의미가 있는 만큼, 관련 부처와 지자체가 하나가 되어 세계에서 손꼽히는 국가 정원을 만들겠다는 자부심으로 힘을 모아주시기를 당부드린다”고 말했다.
