브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 우상호 더불어민주당 선거대책위원회 총괄선대본부장은 6일 "선거를 사흘 앞둔 상황에서 막판 최대 변수로 등장했던 후보 단일화가 오히려 역풍이 불고 있다"고 밝혔다.
우상호 본부장은 이날 오전 서울 여의동 당사에서 가진 기자회견에서 "후보단일화를 하면 두 후보의 지지층이 결집하고 부동층까지 올라타면서 상당한 차이로 격차가 벌어지는 게 목적일 텐데 결과적으로 그렇게 나타나고 있지 않다"며 이같이 말했다.
우 본부장은 그 이유로 안철수 지지층에서 반발이 나오고 있다는 점과 중도층, 부동층에서도 윤석열-안철수 후보간 단일화를 부정적으로 보고 있다는 점, 위기를 느낀 이재명 후보 지지층에서 결집하고 있다는 점 등을 내세웠다.
그는 "야권후보 단일화로 얻으려는 효과가 반감되고, 오히려 이재명 후보에게 유리한 국면이 형성된다고 본다"고 주장했다.
그는 또한 '유능함 대 무능함' 프레임을 통해 인물론으로 승부를 걸겠다면서 서울·경기·인천 등 수도권에 화력을 집중할 계획이라고 설명했다.
그는 "이제 단일화에 대한 비판은 중단하고 이재명 후보가 왜 윤석열 후보보다 더 뛰어난 대통령감인지 홍보하는 데 주력해달라고 지침을 내릴 계획"이라며 "유능 대 무능, 준비 된 후보 대 준비 안 된 후보, 경제와 민생을 누가 더 잘할 수 있느냐, 안정감 있는 후보 대 불안한 후보로 차별화해 나갈 것"이라고 했다.
아울러 수도권을 집중 공략하는 이유에 대해선 "인구 절반 이상이 거주하면서도 부동층이 제일 많은 지역이기 때문에 수도권에 화력을 집중할 것"이라며 "승부는 부동층에서 날 것으로 보고 있다. 인물론·정치혁신론·경제민생론 세 가지 테마가 부동층을 움직인다고 보고 이 기조로 전략을 짰다"고 말했다.
