국제학교 구성원들이 코로나19 극복에 힘을 보탰다.
희망브리지 전국재해구호협회(회장 송필호)는 채드윅 송도국제학교(교장 테드 힐)와 아이비컬리지에잇스쿨(교장 패트릭 콜린스)가 7일 코로나19 극복 성금 2천600만원을 기부했다고 8일 밝혔다.
두 학교 학생과 학부모, 교사들은 코로나19로 어려운 시기를 보내고 있는 이웃들을 돕기 위해 십시일반 모았다.
채드윅 송도국제학교 구성원들은 재작년과 작년에도 코로나19 확산 방지 성금 3천여만원을 희망브리지에 기부했다.
희망브리지는 코로나19로 경제적‧신체적 어려움을 겪는 재난 취약계층을 돕는 데에 성금을 사용할 계획이다.
채드윅 송도국제학교 관계자는 “코로나19 장기화로 고통을 겪고 있는 분들이 힘을 냈으면 좋겠다”고 했고, 아이비컬리지에잇스쿨 관계자는 “코로나19 극복에 조금이나마 힘을 보태고자 학생과 학부모, 교직원들이 정성 들여 모은 성금을 잘 써주시기를 바란다”고 말했다.
재난 구호모금 전문기관인 희망브리지 전국재해구호협회는 1961년 전국의 신문사와 방송사, 사회단체가 힘을 모아 설립한 순수 민간단체이자 국내 자연재해 피해 구호금을 지원할 수 있는 유일한 법정 구호단체다.
60년 동안 1조5천억 원의 성금과 6천만 점 넘는 구호물품을 지원했다. 특히 지난해 코로나19 극복 성금 1천22억 원을 모금해 3천7백만 점 가까운 물품을 방역 취약계층과 의료진, 치료시설 입소자 등에게 전달했다.
