한국문화예술협회측은 보도자료에서 '이 대전은 초대작가전으로 찬란한 문화 역사를 전 세계에 자랑하면서 우리의 전통과 정신 문화의 창조적인 계승발전을 위하여 역량 있는 작가로 하여금 21세기 공동의 터전을 만들고 한국 예술 발전에 앞장서서 나갈 길을 정립하고자 작품 공 모전을 개최하고 있다“고 소개해고 “우수한 초대작가들만의 경쟁을 통하여 최고의 작품성과 예술성을 표현한 작가를 수상하여 한국 예술을 더 한층 발전시킬 수 있도록 기여하고 있다”고 알렸다.
초대작가를 수상한 송정익 작가에 대해서는 “제주 출신으로 1994년 서예에 입문하여 국방부 연묵회에서 작품 활동을 시작하여 육군 대령으로 예편 후 경희대학교 교육대학원에서 서예 문인화 교육과를 전공했다. 추사선생이 제주도 유배 시절 완성한 추사체를 널리 보급하는데 앞장을 서고 있다. 추사체를 쉽게 쓸 수 있도록 ‘추사체를 어떻게 쓸 것인가?’에 대한 서책을 집필하여 후반기 출간을 준비하고 있다”고 소개했다.
