이춘희 세종시장이 26일 오전 세종시선관위에 예비후보 등록을 하고 결선 투표 승리를 위한 지지세 확보에 나설 계획이다.
예비후보 등록에 앞서 이 시장은 “경선 투표 과정에서 보여준 지지자들의 뜻을 높이 받들어 2차 결선 투표에서 압도적인 승리를 이루겠다”며 “이춘희가 민주당 세종시장 후보로 나선다면 본선에서 압도적이고 확실한 승리를 이뤄낼 수 있다”며 자신감을 드러냈다.
또 세종시를 설계하고 도시골격을 만들어 온 자신이 세종시를 완성하라는 시민의 명령에 응답해 “새로운 비전과 충실한 공약을 통해 ‘대한민국 행복 1번지 세종시’를 반드시 완성할 것”이라고 강조했다.
이춘희 시장과 조상호 전 경제부시장은 오는 28일부터 5월1일까지 더불어민주당 세종시장 후보 확정을 위한 결선 투표를 벌이게 된다.
